SITE & SOIL prepare soil well with compost or well rotted manure as beetroot likes a rich soil. A pH of about 6.5.
SOW first sowings under cover in late winter then sow outside under cloches in early spring.
PLANTING sow a few clusters 2.5cm deep about 8cm apart with 30cm between rows. Thin out selectively when about the size of a golf ball, leaving one every 8cm. Can be succession sown.
HARVEST at a golf ball size for `baby beet` or at a tennis ball size for main crop.
